about scar
Second Chance Animal Rescue Clare (SCAR Clare) are here for the health and welfare of your pets. We provide support and education with compassion where and when needed in CO. Clare, Ireland. Our objective is to help as many animals big or small find their forever homes.
Second Chance Animal Rescue was founded in 2007 and is based in Shannon. We have 2 catteries and one dog shelter. We have a cattery in Shannon and another in Kilmurry McMahon. And our dog shelter and larger animals (horses, pigs etc) are in Carrigaholt, CO. Clare.
We need help with fundraising, fostering, and getting homes for many of the cats, dogs, kittens and puppies that are unwanted or abused. We will try to help where and when we can and in the case of wild cats, we practice a 'Trap Neuter and Release' policy. you can find more information & links about "Trap" "Neuter" "Release" on the Cats Page Here. If you would like further information about our services, please contact any of our Volunteers at info@SCARClare.com. Please remember when e-mailing us, it is also important to include your phone no. and where you are located. With this information we can respond more quickly to your request.

The shop is now open from 11.00am - 4.00pm Tuesday to Saturday.

If you fancy a bargain, please visit our shop at Delginis Shannon. If you have time to spare on a regular basis, enjoy meeting new people, and want to help animals in need, then why not become part of our friendly team of shop volunteers? and remember all monies raised in the SCAR shop goes directly and exclusively towards the health and welfare of all the animals in our care. Thank you all for the generous support since the official opening in Sept. 2011.
Scar shelters
As well as strays, SCAR will also take in dogs and cats whose owners can no longer cope with
them or who are no longer able to care for them due to a change in circumstances. Sometimes owners feel they can no longer keep their dog or cat because of its behavior problems. Behavior problems can be very distressing and it is understandable that some owners feel their only option is to part with their pet.
Scar aims never to turn away a dog or cat in need of our help.
If you would like to bring your own dog or cat to one of our centres please call us first:
Due to pressure on kennel and cattery space, we might not be able to take your dog or cat immediately and your details may be placed on a waiting list. We do treat each case individually, but please be aware that we may not be able to take your dog or cat in immediately.
In emergencies, we may be able to accept owners' dogs at other times, but please be aware that experienced veterinary staff may
not be available outside of these hours.
